University of Melbourne Faculty of Education
Our Independent Academic Partner
The Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne (UoM) serves as the Independent Academic Partner on the Religions and Worldviews project, undertaking a program of academic work to support and evaluate the framework.
This work is carried out alongside the MultiFaith Education Collaboration (MFEC)—a group of faith representatives under the auspices of the Faith Communities Council of Victoria (FCCV)—and facilitated by Faith Values (FV).
UoM Faculty of Education will independently evaluate Religions and Worldviews lesson plans and teacher training modules that run 15 Victorian schools as part of the Religions and Worldviews Pilot Program.
In parallel, the UoM Faculty of Education is conducting research to study the current attitudes and challenges for Religions and Worldviews as it is being taught in Victorian schools, providing critical insights to shape future implementation. To ensure broad-based support and quality outcomes, the project is supported by an Advisory Group, which includes leading national and international education experts.
The team at University of Melbourne is led by Former Deputy Dean, Professor Larissa McLean Davies, and includes Dr Amanda Burritt, Dr Natasha Ziebell, Dr Mahtab Janfada, and Dr Michele Herrington.
