What is it?
Developing Resources for Students and Teachers
The Religions and Worldviews Pilot Program commenced in January 2023 and is due for completion December 2026.
The aims of the Pilot Program are:
- To produce worldviews education lesson plans for Years 7 & 8 students under ‘Civics and Citizenship’ in the Victorian Curriculum
- To produce training modules for teachers in Victorian schools.
- To run a trial in 15 Victorian schools to deliver and evaluate the lesson plans and teacher training modules. Evaluation will be conducted by the University of Melbourne Faculty of Education.
The Pilot Program is an initiative of a broad coalition of faith and community leaders, along with education experts, who have collaborated and consulted extensively with relevant State and National authorities, community groups, and academics.
Primary Funding Partner
The primary funding partner for the Religions and Worldviews Pilot Program is The Templeton World Charity Foundation, Inc.
The Templeton World Charity Foundation’s generous grant provides for the development of curriculum-aligned educational resources utilising a worldviews education framework, teacher training and support facilitating their classroom implementation of those resources, and subsequent rigorous evaluation of their effectiveness, through independent academic partner, the University of Melbourne Faculty of Education.
Additional Funding
The Religions and Worldviews Pilot Program has also received generous financial grant support from The Collier Charitable Fund.
In addition, work by the coalition that relates to the Pilot Program, including the development of Religions and Worldviews, is supported by the generous in-kind and financial project support of each collaboration participant, along with other supporters.
